Weapons Work in Aikido

Self-defense? What if the attacker has a weapon? Aikido will teach you footwork and body movement to keep you safe. When you train with a bokken (wooden sword), a jo (short staff) or a tanto (wooden knife), you work on awareness of distance, timing and body manipulation, bringing a deeper understanding to empty handed Aikido techniques.
